Jim O’Neill, a Goldman Sachs economist, first used the term “BRIC” in 2001 to refer to a group of rapidly developing nations that will collectively control the world economy by 2050. A cooperation of five important developing nations and rising markets known as BRICS was established on the basis of similar interests and long-standing ties to friendship and solidarity.
